  The Local Environment

Nature:

The Beach House overlooks the Gulf of Mexico close by the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. The area is environmentally sensitive with respect to several species. Thus, we expect our guests to show mature judgement: don't stomp the dunes, don't tear up the vegetation, don't harm the cranes (who may simply walk right up to you!).

Children:

The Beach House does not accept children. We have great kids and perfect grandchildren. We think children are wonderful. But our B&B is not appropriate for children. Many of our guests come here to take a break from their own kids and, for that purpose, they do not need to be among other peoples' children during their rare kid-free time. If you have children, we hope you'll let us be your oasis whenever you can sneak away for a few days of private time.

Smoking:

No smoking in the house, please. You may smoke on the porches, provided that you are mindful of which way the breeze is blowing so that your smoke does not bother others.

Connectivity:

We've noticed that people unwind better if they are tuned into the sea, the sky, the wildlife, etc. At the same time, we know that many people rely on having access to television and the internet. So, each guest room at The Beach House is equipped with satellite television and wireless internet access. Of course, you'll also find kites and floats, puzzles and games, books and magazines available. To plug in or not to plug in? That is the question! Whatever your answer might be, we have what you need.

Your Private Environment:

Your room is your private space and we'll protect your privacy by never entering your room without your permission. At the same time, we want to make sure your room is as fresh and clean as can be. To balance these two concerns, our policy is: we will not enter your room unless you invite us to do so. If you want your room freshened, your sheets changed, etc., please just let us know. We'll be glad to freshen your room daily, but we'll do so only if you invite us to enter your private space.

The Area:

If you want to roam, go a few miles west to Fort Morgan and climb the battlements, or catch the auto ferry to Dauphin Island, Mobile, Bellingrath Gardens, or the casinos of Biloxi. A few miles to the east, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach provide many choices for shopping, dinner and dancing, and Foley is home to an extensive outlet mall. Further east, Pensacola has its own world of restaurants and attractions, including the Naval Aviation Museum. If you like to meander, scenic back roads can take you to the small bay towns of Fairhope and Daphne. A variety of golf courses, including nationally-ranked Kiva Dunes, are just a few minutes from our home.
